Extended reporting

Add additional context to any third-party assessment report

This article describes how you can use our platform's extended reporting capability to enrich the results of due diligence assessments and create context-rich due diligence assessment reports.

Introduction

The 3rdRisk platform has an advanced reporting module allowing you to create branded due diligence assessment (PDF) reports. By default, the reporting template consists of the domain, question, answer, third-party comment, score, and criticality of remediation.

Extended reporting allows you to enrich the draft and final assessment report with three columns with additional context. Additional context can be provided at the question level and could vary per answer option.

Let's consider the following example. You have received a due diligence questionnaire from a third party. Suppose a supplier has answered on the questionnaire that they have not established a policy. The extended reporting function provides you with the opportunity to clarify (1) why the question is important, (2) what the risk is based on the answer, and (3) to provide an appropriate recommendation for each question and answer.

Use case

There are several use cases for extended reporting:

Extended due diligence assessment reports: extended reporting allows you to explain third parties why they have an issue and what they could do about it.

Capability maturity assessments: extended reporting helps you to perform maturity assessments. Per question and answer option, you can provide the rationale, criticality, and expected action.

The good thing about extended reporting is that you can use it before or after having received a due diligence assessment from a third-party. If you have already received a couple of assessments and you want to provide them with additional context, you can do so. You don't have to set this up before sending the assessments.

Step-by-step tutorial

Important! Extended reporting is not activated by default. Contact your partner or 3rdRisk via the chat bulb or e-mail and ask them to activate the extended reporting PDF template.

The starting point for extended reporting is the assessment questionnaire you have used or want to use in an assessment. First, make sure that you have uploaded the questionnaire to the platform. Click here to learn more about uploading an assessment questionnaire.

1. Go to [left menu] Content and select Questionnaires

2. Go to Actions [...] of the right questionnaire and select View questionnaire.

3. Click on the button Extended reporting

4. Read the instruction. Select Download to make a local copy of the Excel file. Leave this form open. In step 7, you have to upload the Excel template again.

5. Open the Excel file. Go to the tab Labels. As mentioned, extended reporting will give you the possibility to add three additional columns. To define the name in the column header, you have to add a name in the column Label. See the example below.

6. Go to the tab Contexts. Add the right context for each question and answer type in the columns Context 1, Context 2, and Context 3. See the example below. After you have completed the template, ensure you save the file.

7. Go back to the 3rdRisk platform. Continue with step 2. Select the file that you just saved. Click on Import context to the questionnaire

8. You will get a message that the import was successful.

9. Go to the [left menu} Ecosystem module. Click on Finished. Open the assessment for which you want to create an extended report.

10. Select if you want to download or view the PDF report.
11. Enjoy your fully branded extended reporting template!
