Cannot upload file due to security reasons
When uploading documents to the platform or external portals (such as for assessments), you may encounter the following error message:
For security reasons, 3rdRisk blocks PDFs from uploading when embedded scripts are detected. This is done for the safety of all users who will be viewing or downloading the document later in the platform.
Solution
We recommend removing these embedded scripts to be able to upload them. This can be done using one of the following methods:
- Print-to-PDF (any platform)
- Open the PDF in any reader (Acrobat Reader, Preview, even your web browser).
- Choose “Print”, then select a virtual PDF printer (e.g. “Microsoft Print to PDF” on Windows, “Save as PDF” on macOS).
- “Print”/“Save” to a new file.
- Adobe Acrobat Pro (Windows/macOS)
- Open the PDF in Acrobat Pro.
- Go to “Tools” → “JavaScript” → “Document JavaScripts…”.
- Delete any listed scripts.
- Go to “File” → “Save As Other” → “Optimized PDF”.
- In the “PDF Optimizer” dialog, select “Discard Objects” on the left.
- Check “Discard all embedded page‐level JavaScript” and “Discard all document‐level JavaScript.”
- Click “OK” and save.
